Melchsee-Frutt: Mountain fresh breathing space
Surrounded by an admirable mountain backdrop at almost 2000 meters above sea level lies the family-friendly vacation resort of Melchsee-Frutt, which can be reached by cable car.
Starting from the Stöckalp valley station at the end of the Melch Valley, the gondola lift takes you up to the Melchsee-Frutt high plateau. Situated on the shores of Lake Melchsee, this sunny little village offers an alpine playground, fire pits and a themed trail in summer.
Its location between the Brünig and Engelberg valleys makes Melchsee-Frutt a central and popular hiking area.
Summer
In early summer, Melchsee-Frutt is known for its impressive fauna and flora. The deep blue and trout-rich mountain lakes Melchsee, Tannensee and Blausee not only delight passionate fishermen, but also anyone who wants to escape the heat in the valley. The sports climbing garden in the striking Boni rock band offers a sporting adventure. The "Fruttli Trail" is very popular with younger guests. Fruttli and his animal friends teach children about marmots in a playful way and encourage them to be active.
Various tasks can be solved on the educational trail and completed with a "Fruttli Pass". This turns family time into a fun adventure.
The Hasliberg - Melchsee-Frutt - Engelberg high-altitude hike is one of the great hiking classics. The six-hour four-lake hike from Melchsee-Frutt via Tannalp, Engstlenalp, Jochpass and Trübsee to Engelberg is particularly popular. Chairlifts and mountain railroads make it easy to shorten long stretches of the hike.
Our younger guests also benefit from a great offer. When accompanied by an adult, children up to the age of 16 travel free of charge on all cable cars of the Melchsee-Frutt sports lifts during the summer season.
Winter
The alpine surroundings with the charming village on the high plateau offer numerous activities, safe outdoor fun and space for pure relaxation.
In addition to skiing and snowboarding on 36 kilometres of slopes and in the freestyle park, cross-country skiing on varied trails is also very popular. Fruttiland has a free practice area for the little ones. At the Vogelbüel ski lift, the more experienced can learn to ski over bumps and hollows or high-five the Fruttli in the Fruttli Cross.
Despite the ice and snow, fishing is not just a summer activity. Guided tours are available during the winter months for popular ice fishing on Lake Melchsee. Snowshoe tours and winter hiking are also considered special highlights. Various restaurants and accommodation options offer convivial get-togethers and culinary diversity.
Unique for all tobogganers is the eight-kilometre-long toboggan run from the Melchsee-Frutt mountain station to the Stöckalp valley station. With an altitude difference of almost 1,000 metres, the route promises action and fun and is an experience for young and old alike.
