City tour Berne

The city of Bern is not only the Swiss federal capital, but is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The heart of Bern is the picturesque old town with its six-kilometre-long arcades, which protect visitors from rain and provide shade while they stroll. In addition to these unique arcades, it is the Zytglogge (time bell tower), the Käfigturm (cage tower), the Renaissance figure fountains, the cathedral and the sandstone facades that characterise the image of the city founded in 1191.

establishments as well as speciality shops to be discovered. Bern's old town is surrounded by the River Aare. For the inhabitants, the river is not just a water body - the Aare swimming and the Aareboötle are as much a part of Bern as the hops for malt in the numerous micro and micro breweries in and around Bern. And because the city was built on a peninsula, everything is close together and can be reached shortly on foot, by tram or bus.
